May 25- June 2, 2006 It has been just a week since a call came from editor Eric Ahiquist from Crier Headquarters, with sad news. My What's Cookin'? column will not be published in the Crier. I couldn't bring myself to tell you all last week. Writing the column brought me back to life after my husband, Richard, died of AlS and kept me going until a new husband, Irwin Curlis encouraged me. You all loved them too. Now a new gentleman has entered my life and changed it again. I am not sure what the future has in store for me, but I am here if you need me at- cory13us@yahoo.com or write to me 3079 ST HWY #205, Hartwick, NY 13348. I had a good day at work as The Youth Bureau finished up a mailed "Fun is our Business" to all the Otsego County Summer Recreation Directors. It contained all the info needed to have a very special summer program for the children of the county. Dolly Hunter is back on the job at the Personal Department after a week of instruction. She was greeted with all the work that she could not do while away. Knowing Dolly she will get right back in the swing of it again. There wasn't much that she didn't know already, but she will be better then ever now. Nice to have you back, partner! Natalie Fisher is back after giving a long distance 75th birthday party for a dear friend. She did it all on the computer, notifying everyone of the invite. There was one special lady who had a special birthday, because someone cared. Natalie just received a lovely soft white also cashmere bath towel in the mail as a thank you. She couldn't wait to use it. NATALIE'S BIRTHDAY WAS THIS WEEK TOO and she was surprised with a number of calls and visits. She invited Joe and I and as a threesome, it was great and relaxing. Leave it to me. I forgot her gifts!!!! The heavy rain ripped its reward when the lawns, gardens, and Lilacs just burst into life. The air smelled so good you could almost take a bath in it. Joe's Rhododendrons are beginning to open. I can't wait until they do. It is the first thing I saw when I went to he invited me to his home last August 15th. . . The beautiful yellow rose bush that my son, Andy gave me for Mother's Day has been a joy. Every morning a new surprise. Two roses have lost their pedals, but three more have opened. I have had nine gorgeous roses blossoms so far and more to come. Joe's son, Tony, took his family and a special guest, Martha Quien, from Vermont, on a boat ride on Goodyear Lake. Their one-year old son, Anthony, must have enjoyed his first ride as Jessely sent photos to Joe on the computer. She sends them all to Peru where her family look forward to seeing them often. God's Voice: Believe in my SON, HE died so that you could have eternal life. Memorial Weekend was beautiful with touches of rain, lots of sunshine and almost HOT temperatures. It was perfect for the many services around the county for those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we here could be protected and free. Pray for them. . My brother Terry was up for the weekend and rushed back early Memorial Day. Our good friend Doc Wiener and his wife Gail came to but that too, had to get back to New Jersey. Joe has been busy getting his camper in running order and I have helped by giving it a good cleaning. We are looking forward to taking in out o a test run. He has his truck and now a camper so he is a Happy Camper. I must say I am getting excited too. Hazel McShane has company from New Jersey this week for the day. She loves the company. Her nephew, Frankie from Canada spent three days with her and they made up for lost time. Somehow I haven't the heart to write more, but will write my farewell next week. Bob Hope: On going to Heaven-"I've done benefits for ALL religions. I'd hate to blow the hereafter on a technicality." Thought for the Week: Use the talents that GOD gave you and bloom where you are planted . . .unter Hunter |
